Chargers awarded compensatory pick

Under terms of the NFL collective bargaining agreement, a team losing more or better compensatory free agents than it acquires in the previous year is eligible to receive compensatory draft picks.

San Diego Chargers

Lost: Mike Goff, Igor Olshansky
Signed: Kevin Burnett
Total compensatory picks: 1

This is bitter sweet for the Chargers.  The Chargers will need every pick they can get as general manager AJ Smith tries to prove that he still has some draft magic left.  The signing up Burnett was the big splash of the signing period in 2009, although Burnett played hard, he was often injured appearing in 11 games seven of which he started.

IGOR appeared in all 16 games for the Cowboys and started 14.  He was able to put up solid numbers for a Defensive End playing in a 3-4 and one could even argue he was missed as the Chargers defensive line fought injuries all season.

Goff appeared in 8 games, 7 of which were starts for the Chiefs.  Goff was sorely missed as the Chargers has issues all season running especially on the right side of the line.
