Chargers Beat the Eagles 33-30 – Good, Bad, and Ugly

Philip Rivers – 36/47 for 419 yards, three touchdowns and more importantly… No turnovers!

Antonio Gates – The future HOFer had a very productive day with eight receptions for 124 yards

Malcom Floyd – Before leaving the game with a neck injury had five catches for 102 yards

Eddie Royal – With a hat trick today, seven catches for 90 yards and a three touchdowns.  Royal Flush!

Pass rush – Jarius Wynn had a sack early, but after that the pass rush was non-existent.  I could try to argue they were focused on containing Vick (six carries, 23 yards, TD), but I would fail.  The lack of pass rush is killing the secondary and that needs to be fixed before the week 4 game against the Cowboys.

Secondary – For a second straight week the secondary got torched by a not so stellar QB.  23/36 for 428 yards and two TDs.  DeSean Jackson had nine catches for 193 yards, which could have easily been 11 catches for 250 if Vick was more accurate.

Turnovers – Mathews and Gates with fumbles.

Malcom Floyd – Floyd whom left the game on a stretcher after suffering a neck injury.  Michael Gehlken tweets:
